Esbozo Histórico del Sanatorio del Centro de la Colonia Española de Santiago de Cuba (1902-1970)

Abstract

En la investigación se realiza un esbozo histórico sobre la casa de salud de la Sociedad Centro de la Colonia Española de Santiago de Cuba. Con la cual se persigue como objetivo caracterizar la evolución histórica del Sanatorio del Centro de la Colonia Española de Santiago de Cuba (1902-1961), así como su impronta en dicha ciudad. En ella se abordan los aspectos generales de la inmigración española en Cuba y la incidencia de la misma en el sistema de salud cubano; también se refieren a las instituciones de asistencia médica privadas que se comenzaron a crear en este periodo de 1902-1961. Asimismo se analizarán características generales de su proceso evolutivo que la llevan, en determinados momentos, a romper con los patrones ya establecidos, y ser más flexibles ante las condiciones históricas que imperaban, muestra en los años venideros, de su perdurabilidad ante los cambios. Igualmente se demuestra la vinculación de esta institución con el acontecer histórico del contexto socioeconómico donde se encuentra. Del mismo modo se aborda lo referente a las labores de remodelación y ampliación de sus inmuebles, e implicaciones indirectas en la atención a los combatientes del 26 de Julio y el 30 de Noviembre, hecho que confirma la honestidad profesional de su personal médico y paramédico. Más adelante se exponen los cambios en que se ve implicada la institución como parte de las transformaciones socioeconómicas que ocurren en el país a partir de 1959. El trabajo posibilita un acercamiento al estudio sobre la historia de esta institución, estudio que contribuye a las indagaciones históricas de carácter local y regional de Santiago de Cuba.

In the research it realizes a historical sketch about the house of health of the Society Center “La Colonia Española” to Santiago de Cuba. It pursued as objective to characterize the historical evolution of the Sanatorium of the Center “La Colonia Española” of Santiago de Cuba (1902-1961), as well as their impression in this city. In this, itself the general aspects of the Spanish immigration in Cuba and the incidence of the same in the Cuban system of health; they also refer the deprived institutions of medical attendance that they began to create for oneself in this period of 1902-1961. Also general characteristics of their evolutionary process are analyzed that take it, in certain moments, to already break up with the patterns established, and to be more flexible before the historical conditions than they reigned. It shows in the coming years, their perpetuity in the face of the changes. Equally he demonstrates this institution´s linkage with the happen historic of the socioeconomic context where he meets. The is also approached with respect to the remodeling works and amplification of their properties and indirect implications in the attention at the combatants of July 26 and November 30, fact that confirms their medical personnel's professional honesty and for doctor. Later on the changes are exposed in that is implied the institution like part of the socioeconomic transformations that happen in the country starting from 1959. The work contributes to an approach to the study on the history of this institution; this study contributes to the historical inquiries of character local and regional of Santiago de Cuba.
