La Sociedad de Geografía e Historia de Oriente: Acercamiento a su labor investigativa y divulgativa de la Historia (1939-1957)

Abstract

El presente trabajo constituye un estudio de historia local, en el que se realiza una aproximación a la Sociedad de Geografía e Historia de Oriente, Institución que radicó en la ciudad de Santiago de Cuba. El mismo tiene por título: La Sociedad de Geografía e Historia de Oriente: Acercamiento a su labor investigativa y divulgativa de la Historia (1939-1957). Para una mejor comprensión la investigación se ha estructurado en dos capítulos, el primero, La Sociedad de Geografía e Historia de Oriente: Antecedentes y surgimiento, que aborda los orígenes de la Sociedad y la labor desempeñada entre los años 1939 y 1940; en el segundo capítulo, La Sociedad de Geografía e Historia de Oriente. Labor en la investigación y divulgación de la Historia entre 1941 y 1957, se trata el Grupo Humboldt, la inserción de la Sociedad en los Congresos Nacionales de Historia y la contribución de esta a la divulgación y enseñanza de la Historia y a la conservación de los monumentos históricos. La importancia de la investigación radica en que contribuye al enriquecimiento de la historia de la antigua provincia de Oriente, entre los años 1939 y 1957, a partir de la labor desarrollada por la Sociedad en la investigación y divulgación de la historia.

The following work constitutes a study of local history which carry on an approach of the Society of Geography and History of East. Institution that was located in Santiago de Cuba city. We entitled this project work: The Society of Geography and History of East, an approach to its investigative and spread work of the history from 1939 to 1957. To a better comprehension the research had to be structured into 2 chapters. The first one: The Society of Geography and History of East. Background and beginning, the origin of society and its work between the years 1939 to 1940. The second chapter: The Society of Geography and History of East. Investigative and spread work of the history between 1941 to 1957. This chapter deals with the Humboldt´s group, the insertion of society in the National Congresses of history, and its contribution to the spreading and teaching of history and to the preservation of historical monuments. The importance of this research is the contribution to the History increasement of the ancient Eastern province between 1939 to 1957, taking as starting point the work developed by the Society in the investigation and spreading of History.
