Estudio de los focos contaminantes en la calidad de las aguas de los ríos Los Guaos y Gascón

Abstract

En este trabajo se realizó una caracterización de los principales focos contaminantes que vierten a los ríos Los Guaos y Gascón con el objetivo de valorar sus incidencias en función de la calidad de sus aguas. Por este motivo se efectuó un análisis de sus aguas, el cual permitió localizar y dejar en evidencia los principales focos contaminantes que la afectan. Para su desarrollo se tuvo en cuenta una amplia documentación científica, se utilizaron los métodos científicos: histórico- lógico, análisis- síntesis y observación. Como resultados fundamentales, se puede plantear que el ser humano es el principal causante de la contaminación existente a nivel global, que en Cuba se ha incrementado significativamente; por lo que ha sido objeto de estudio para la búsqueda de soluciones que permitan erradicar este problema. El análisis de las características físico-química y microbiológica de las aguas de los ríos Los Guaos y Gascón demostró que las mismas están contaminadas, siendo las estaciones 1 y 3 las más afectadas. Estas aguas no son aptas para el uso pesquero, ni como agua potable. Para ser destinadas como abasto a la población es necesario realizar un tratamiento especial. El muestreo realizado en el 2019, evidenció una disminución en la contaminación hídrica de la cuenca, así mismo se demostró que los focos contaminantes siguen afectando la calidad de las aguas en los ríos de la zona de estudio, y que los impactos negativos se producen por la indisciplina social y de las instituciones que carecen de sistema de tratamiento o deficiente funcionamiento de estos.

In this work, a characterization of the main pollutant sources that discharge into the Los Guaos and Gascón rivers was carried out in order to assess their impact on the quality of their waters. For this reason, an analysis of their waters was carried out, which made it possible to locate and highlight the main pollutant sources that affect them. For its development, a wide range of scientific documentation was taken into account, and the following scientific methods were used: historical-logical, analysis-synthesis and observation. As fundamental results, it can be stated that the human being is the main cause of the existing pollution at global level, which in Cuba has increased significantly; therefore, it has been the object of study for the search of solutions to eradicate this problem. The analysis of the physical-chemical and microbiological characteristics of the waters of Los Guaos and Gascón rivers showed that they are contaminated, with stations 1 and 3 being the most affected. These waters are not suitable for fishing or drinking water. In order to be used for supplying water to the population, special treatment is required. The sampling carried out in 2019 showed a decrease in water pollution in the basin, but it was also demonstrated that the polluting sources continue to affect water quality in the rivers of the study area, and that the negative impacts are caused by social indiscipline and by the institutions that are responsible for the pollution.
