Obra filantrópica de la masonería en la ciudad de Santiago de Cuba (1920-1930)

Abstract

El presente trabajo constituye una aproximación al estudio de la obra filantrópica de la masonería en Santiago de Cuba durante el período republicano, por ser considerada la región sur-oriental cuna de la iniciación francmasónica del país, portadora de una herencia arraigada desde las postrimerías del siglo XVIII y se enriquece en las primeras décadas del XX. La investigación lleva por título: Obra filantrópica de la masonería en la ciudad de Santiago de Cuba (1920-1930). Los elementos constatados durante la investigación facilitaron declarar como objetivo: Demostrar la proyección filantrópica de la masonería santiaguera en el período de 1920-1930. A partir de la lógica de la investigación histórica, el trabajo quedó estructurado en dos capítulos, con igual número de epígrafes cada uno. El primero, titulado Síntesis histórica de la masonería santiaguera: origen y evolución, donde se realiza un bosquejo panorámico del surgimiento de la fraternidad en la región oriental de Cuba. El segundo capítulo, Labor social de la masonería en Santiago de Cuba (1920-1930), compila el análisis de las principales transformaciones de la masonería local en función de la ejecutoria filantrópica de sus asociados y su impronta en el escenario republicano. Con el estudio que se presenta, se contribuye al conocimiento de un aspecto que no ha sido abordado con sistematicidad dentro de la historiografía local y nacional.

This work constitutes and approach into the study of philanthropy’s masonery work in Santiago de Cuba during the republic period, for the considering of the south-oriental region one of the franc-masonic initiation of the country, which contains a established herency where the conclusions of the XVIII century and it gets rich in the first decades of the XX century. The investigation takes for title: The philanthropic works of the Masonry in the city of Santiago of Cuba, 1920-1930. The elements verified during the investigation allowed to declare as objective: to demonstrate the philanthropic projection of the Santiago´s Masonry in the period from 1920 to the 1930. Starting from the logic of the historical investigation, the work was structured in two chapters with equal number of epigraphs each one. The first, titled: Historical synthesis of the Masonry in the city of Santiago of Cuba: origin and evolution, where it is carried out a panoramic outline of the beginning of the fraternity in the oriental region of Cuba. The second surrender: Social work of the Masonry in the city of Santiago of Cuba 1920-1930, it compiles the analysis of the main transformations of the local Masonry in function of the philanthropic executory of their associates and their signature in the republican scenario. With the study that shows up, it is contributed to the knowledge of an aspect that has not been approached with sistematicity inside the local and national historiography.
