La labor revolucionaria de Víctor Enrique Téllez Rivera en Santiago de Cuba (1953-2017)

Abstract

El presente trabajo constituye una historia de vida del destacado profesor universitario Víctor Enrique Téllez Rivera, que se inicia con el estudio de su vida estudiantil y sus primeras acciones revolucionarias contra la tiranía de Batista, para en un segundo momento abordar su actividad revolucionaria después del triunfo de la Revolución, en la que se destacan su temprana incorporación a las Milicias Nacionales Revolucionarias, su permanente superación profesional así como su labor magisterial en el municipio San Luis y luego en la Universidad de Oriente hasta el presente. Se señalan igualmente las diferentes condecoraciones y reconocimientos recibidos por el profesor Téllez, y sus responsabilidades políticas y administrativas. Como toda historia de vida, la fuente principal de información resultó ser la entrevista con el propio biografiado, posteriormente cruzada con lo aportado por otras fuentes, como entrevistas a personas que estudiaron o han trabajado con él, o libros de historia que tratan el período objeto de estudio. Consideramos que esta investigación puede contribuir a la historia de la Universidad de Oriente y a la historia local de Santiago de Cuba en un período cardinal del desarrollo histórico de la Nación, que marca el fin del capitalismo y el nacimiento de una sociedad más justa, a la que Víctor Téllez aportó sus esfuerzos.

The present work constitutes a life story of the eminent university professor Víctor Enrique Téllez Rivera. This investigation begins with the study of his student life and his first revolutionary actions against Batista's tyranny. In a second moment we approach his revolutionary activity after the triumph of the Revolution, in which its early incorporation to the Revolutionary National Militias, its permanent professional improvement as well as its magisterial work in the municipality San Luis and soon in the University of Oriente until the present. The different decorations and medals received by Professor Téllez, and their political and administrative responsibilities are also mentioned. Like all life history, the main source of information turned was the interview with the biographed person, later compared with that provided by other sources, such as interviews with people who studied or worked with him, even history books that deal with the period under study. We consider that this research can contribute to the history of the Universidad de Oriente and to the local history of Santiago de Cuba, in a cardinal period of the historical development of the Nation, which marks the end of capitalism and the birth of a more just society. Víctor Téllez contributed with his efforts to build this new society.
