La contribución de los Libros de Registros de la iglesia episcopal Santa María de Santiago de Cuba al estudio de los inmigrantes y descendientes entre 1905 y 1933

Abstract

En el período comprendido entre 1905 y 1933 la ciudad de Santiago de Cuba constituyó el lugar de asentamiento de miles de inmigrantes procedentes de diferentes países. De ellos cientos se congregaron en la iglesia episcopal Santa María. En esa feligresía contrajeron matrimonio, llevaron a cabo sus bautizos y los de sus hijos, confirmaron sus votos religiosos y tuvieron la ceremonia final de sus vidas. Esos actos han quedado consignados en la documentación de la mencionada institución y constituyen un caudal de información para el estudio de esas personas en el antes citado período. Analizar la contribución de los Libros de Registros de la iglesia episcopal Santa María de Santiago de Cuba al estudio de los inmigrantes y descendientes (1905-1933), es el objetivo del presente Trabajo de Diploma.

In the period understood between 1905 and 1933 the city of Santiago de Cuba it constituted the place of establishment of immigrants' thousands coming from different countries. Of them hundred congregated in the Episcopal Church Santa Maria. In that congregation many of them got married, they carried out their baptisms and those of their children, confirmed their religious votes and they had the final ceremony of their lives. Those acts have been logged the documentation of the mentioned institution and they constitute a flow of information for the study of those people in the before mentioned period. To analyze the contribution of the books parochial registrations of the Episcopal Church Santa Maria of Santiago de Cuba to the study of the immigrants and descending (1905-1933), it is the objective of the present work of Diploma.
