Entidad de ciencia e innovación tecnológica cubana dedicada a la investigación y desarrollo de alta tecnología, dirigido especialmente al campo de la biomedicina. Su principal logro es haber diseñado y construido los primeros equipos de Resonancia Magnética de Imágenes, únicos equipos de su tipo desarrollados por un país latinoamericano en época tan temprana como el año 1990. Fue inaugurado oficialmente por el Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro Ruz, el 10 de Febrero de 1993. Actualmente, evidencia una experiencia en esta tecnología de más de veinte años. En Febrero de 2011, la Resolución Ministerial del MEP 33/2011 redefinió el objeto social orientándolo hacia un entorno empresarial de alta tecnología con vista a cerrar ciclo en las producciones científicas y tecnológicas y aprobó la constitución de la Unidad Presupuestada que la Resolución Ministerial del MES 76/2011 constituyó como Centro de Biofísica Médica, adscrita a la Universidad de Oriente, subordinada al Ministerio de Educación Superior. Misión Satisfacer las necesidades especializadas de salud y formación del mercado nacional e internacional, desarrollando y comercializando productos competitivos y sostenibles de alta tecnología para el diagnóstico y tratamiento médico, con énfasis en la resonancia magnética, distinguiéndose por la profesionalidad de sus especialistas. Visión: Somos el centro líder en América Latina en la investigación y comercialización de productos de alta tecnología para el diagnóstico y tratamiento médico, con énfasis en la Resonancia. Objeto Social Prestar servicios académicos de pregrado, posgrado, cursos especializados, inscripción de eventos, consultorías, proyectos, valoraciones, aplicaciones, servicios científicos-técnicos y profesionales, de transferencia de tecnologías y asistencia técnica, así como comercializar los resultados de la ciencia, la técnica e innovación.
