The plant species of the genus Agave are widely distributed throughout Cuba, and constitute an important source of active metabolites. They constitute an important source of steroidal sapogenins, alkaloids, saponins, terpenoids, coumarins, reducing sugars, fructans, phenols and others. A bibliographic review was carried out on the plant species belonging to the genus Agave, which grow in Cuba, emphasizing the anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial activity. For which a secondary investigation of the type of qualitative systematic review was carried out. A search strategy was carried out with keywords with terms in Spanish / English language, in the Scholar Google Search Engine. It was documented that the plant species of the genus Agave, which grow in Cuba, contain a large number of secondary metabolites, among which are steroidal saponins, flavonoids, phenols, essential oils, alkaloids, reducing sugars, among others, which are the responsible for its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial activity. Saponins and flavonoids being the most identified secondary metabolites, to which the anti-inflammatory, antifungal and antimicrobial activity is attributed. The most studied species in which this activity is reported is Agave Americana L., Agave brittoniana T., Agave angustifolia H., Agave fourcroydes L.
